Special Composite Gauge Head for Sub-lance SLS-TSO-S combines three functions (TSO) of temperature measurement, sampling and oxygen determination together. It can be used for measuring the liquid steel temperature in the molten bath, the oxygen activity in the liquid steel and liquid steel sampling (for the on-site analysis lab) under non- turning down condition of the converter. The carbon content can be precisely calculated through the carbon-oxygen balance relation according to the liquid steel temperature and oxygen activity at the end of the blowing process. Thus, it enables the steel-making operator to come to a quick decision in steel tapping. It also allows a pre-calculation of the deoxidizer amount being required to be added after tapping.
